The former husband of Norway’s Princess Martha Louise has taken his own life, his manager has said.
Author Ari Behn married the princess in 2002, before the couple divorced in 2017. They had three children.
Mr Behn’s manager, Geir Hakosund, said in a statement: “It is with sadness in our hearts that we, the closest relatives of Ari Behn, announce today that he has taken his life.
“We ask for respect for our privacy in the coming time.”
His marriage to the only daughter and eldest child of King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway was seen as controversial at the time.
Mr Behn met the royal through his mother, who was the princess’s physiotherapist.
Norway’s King Harald said: “It is with great sadness that the Queen and I have received the message of Ari Behn’s passing.
“Ari has been an important part of our family for many years, and we carry warm, fond memories of him.
“We grieve that our grandchildren have now lost their dear father, and have deep compassion for his parents and siblings, who now have lost their dear son and brother.”
His best-known work was a short book called Sad As Hell.
In 2017, Mr Behr accused Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey of groping him after a Nobel Peace Prize concert.
Mr Spacey – who was facing other similar allegations at the time – has not commented on the allegations.
